Self Assessment is the first and most important step in career planning and is used to identify occupations and major study areas compatible with your personal attributes.

  4. Strong Interest Inventory (SII) — The Strong Interest Inventory compares your interests with those of people happy and successful working in a broad range of occupations. It does not measure abilities or aptitudes. This information is a starting point in the process of making decisions about your major and career.

    2. Select Strong Interest Inventory for your assessment. Click on Begin. 
    3. Answer all 291 items. It should take you about 20-35 minutes. 
    4. Work quickly and answer on the basis of your interests, not abilities. The inventory will be less effective if you answer more than 60 percent “like” or “dislike.”
    5. RECEIVING YOUR RESULTS: The results are extensive and require a counselor to interpret. After completing the inventory, please schedule an appointment on Handshake, or call x7575 or stop by Career Development to make a one-hour appointment with a career development specialist.
