Job Title: K-6 Music Teacher

Job Description
While under the direct supervision of the Principal, the Teacher will plan, organize, and implement the school’s instructional program in a learning environment that motivates and guides students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The general music teacher will provide a balanced, sequential, and comprehensive music experience for all students in grades K-6.
Responsibilities
- Support BFCS Vision, Mission, and Goals.
- Promote and adhere to BFCS policies and procedures.
- Provide a safe, structured environment focused on academic and music excellence.
- Create a learning environment that is engaging and conducive to effective instruction; maintain standards of student behavior.
- Provide direct instruction with appropriate musical skills for teaching singing, conducting, and playing musical instruments while implementing the Kodaly method and Conversational Solfege level 1-3 texts.
- Prepare and follow lesson plans correlated with the prescribed curriculum and pacing guides.
- Communicate learning objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.
- Plan activities to include singing alone and with others, playing instruments, reading, composing, improvising, valuing cultures and history, moving to music, integrating, and listening to, and analyzing music.
- Teach beginning and advanced students in before and after school band or orchestra programs.
- Plan, organize, and lead school wide concerts and musical programs.
- Monitor and assess student progress; provide ongoing feedback to students and parents.
- Use classroom data to inform and improve instruction.
- Participate in team reviews concerning students academic progress.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis to discuss students progress and interpret the instructional program.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records as required by law and school policy.
- Reflect on teaching practices and strive to improve professional competence.
- Assume responsibility for meeting classroom and school-wide student performance goals.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and parent conferences.
- Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the school site or District.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University
- Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Will be required to pass a criminal background check upon hire
