Outdoor Industry and Mountain West Region Intern with Citizens’ Climate Lobby

Major: Environmental Studies

Minor: Geography and Civic Leadership

What was/is your career opportunity/experience (i.e. internship, shadowing experience, research)?

Outdoor Industry and Mountain West Region Intern with Citizens’ Climate Lobby.

How did you get the opportunity/experience? What steps did you take to achieve this?

Throughout my fall senior seminar class, I chose to get my climate advocacy certificate with Citizens’ Climate Lobby for my independent project. Through this certificate program I joined the outdoor industry action team and was introduced to the Mountain West Regional Coordinator who informed me about the internship. I then applied for the internship and was offered the position in November of 2024 for the duration of the 2025 Spring Semester.

Who were some of the people who helped you most at Gustavus to get this opportunity? What did you learn from them?

The Center for Career Development assisted me with the opportunity to apply for the Engaged Learning Fund.

How did the Engaged Learning Funds help you be able to complete this experience?

The Engaged Learning Fund allowed me to participate in an unpaid internship with Citizens’ Climate Lobby. The fund allows me to dedicate my time and energy to my internship without having to worry about the financial implications of unpaid work.
