Welcome to Gustavus Adolphus College’s Student Stories Series!
Boston Career Forum Attendee
Major: Business Management
What was/is your career opportunity/experience (i.e. internship, shadowing experience, research)?
I attended the Boston Career Forum 2024. The Boston Career Forum is the largest job fair for Japanese-English bilinguals. While there, I gained my dream job!
How did you get the opportunity/experience? What steps did you take to achieve this?
Over the past three months, I have researched more than a hundred companies and participated in over ten online job interviews. I have also dedicated considerable time to refining my resume, often asking for feedback from friends and the Center for Career Development staff to improve it.
Tell us more about your accomplishment.
The company that offered me a position specializes in digital marketing consulting. Its headquarters is in Tokyo, and I will be working as a consultant, helping primarily Japanese companies enhance their digital marketing strategies.
Who were some of the people who helped you most at Gustavus to get this opportunity? What did you learn from them?
The Center for Career Development gave me financial support with Engaged Leaning Funds.
How did the Engaged Learning Funds help you be able to complete this experience?
The funds gave me the confidence to participate in the career forum. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to attend, which would have made it so much harder for me to find job opportunities.
Anything else you want to share about your experience?
The Boston Career Forum is an excellent opportunity for Japanese students who face challenges in job hunting while studying abroad. I hope more Japanese students studying at Gustavus have more chances to join this event when they think about their careers.
